Tehran Airport Guide to Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA)

Tehran Airport Terminals

Aside of being one of the two airports serving Tehran and the third busiest airport in Iran, Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport is one of the most important airports in the Middle East in terms of passenger traffic.

Tehran Airport serves exclusively international flights whilst Mehbrabad Airport operates the domestic ones; although from May 2019, IKIA Terminal 1 began to operate domestic services too.

Present & future

There’s a 30-year plan for future development and commercialisation of Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport.

The plan includes to increase the airport capacity to over 60 million passengers annually and to 110 million afterwards, the construction of Tehran Airport Terminal 3 (Iranshahr Terminal) which will be able to host 30 million passengers per year, and a new traffic control tower.
